SEOUL, April 09 (AJU PRESS) - South Korea's state-run TV network, KBS, will showcase a music variety show featuring performances by both artificial intelligence and human artists. During the show titled "Synchro You," the studio audience must discern between human and AI singers. KBS said the first episode of Synchro You will be broadcast on May 10. The variety show will be hosted by several South Korean celebrities, including show host Yoo Jae-suk, boy band Seventeen's Hoshi, and Karina from girl band aespa. The national broadcaster is currently recruiting audience members for the music program. The emergence of AI technology has been steadily reshaping South Korea's entertainment landscape. In December 2020, Big Hit Music artists, including BTS and TXT, collaborated with deceased singer Shin Hae-chul through an online concert. Shin, recognized as a pioneer of South Korea's experimental rock scene, was recreated through AI and hologram technology. The singer tragically passed away in 2014 due to a medical accident. Supertone, the AI audio technology affiliate of the BTS agency, recreated the voice of Kim Hyeok-geon, a South Korean singer whose four limbs were paralyzed in a traffic accident in 2012. A music program broadcast in December 2023 presented a performance of Kim collaborating with a virtual replica of himself. Kim Joo-heon Reporter jhkim123@ajunews.com
